Small changes in our life work in much the same way. To other people, they might not seem like much. But we’re aware of how much value they add to our lives. We know that small changes can make huge differences.

The great thing about small changes is that they’re super easy to implement. The value they give us is in total disproportion to how easy they are to implement – it’s gigantic!

Get Yourself A Third Space

For most people, their first space is their home.

Their second space is their office.

But what about our third space? Do you even have one?

Life can get on top of us if we have just two spaces. If we divide our time between work and home all the time, we have no outlet, no place to release the pressure. With not outlet, we can become stressed or even bored.

Find yourself a third space and make it your place to hang out, chill, and think. It could be a coffee shop or a gym, or it could be a bar or even a library.

Take friends with you. Get to know people in your third space.


Originally, we were going to say that you should be more positive. But for eternally negative people, becoming more positive is actually a pretty big change.

So we’ve decided to suggest that you smile more often instead, which is a great way of becoming more positive.

Smiling isn’t hard. And did you know that it takes way more muscles to frown than it does to smile?

Smiling is easy and automatically makes you feel better about the world. It gives you a boost and empowers you to go ahead and make big changes.

Do A Chore Before Bed

One of the reasons we don’t look forward to the next day is morning is because we know so much work is waiting for us. We’ve got to iron, clean, take out the trash, organise our calendar, shoot off a few emails, make a call, et cetera. The list is long.

So why not make your morning easier by doing at least one of the chores before you go to bed the night before?

This is a great tip that eases feelings of anxiety. When we know there is one less chore to do – especially one we’re really not looking forward to – we can go to bed in a much better mood.

Watch Something Funny Each Day

You might not have enough time to watch a whole funny movie each day, but do you have twenty minutes to spare on an episode of your favourite sitcom?

Or how about ten minutes watching something funny on YouTube?

It’s important that you watch something funny each day, as it will remind that you that life is not so bad after all if you just laugh more.

Practice Kindness

One of our favourite quotes here at Beauty and Tips is this gem from Jack Kerouac:

“Practice kindness every day and you’ll realise that you’re already in heaven now.”

It really is true. Practicing kindness is super easy, but the way it will make you feel about yourself and the whole world around you will be amazing.

When we’re kind to people, we make them feel good, and we also make ourselves feel fabulous.

All you have to do is a small thing each day for someone. It could be something as simple as making your stressed work colleague a cup of coffee or helping an old lady cross the road.

Fresh sheets will help you to feel refreshed and recharged. Much better than old, crumpled sheets that are half on the floor!

Eat Better

If you want to make a seriously big change to your health, the best thing to do is to improve your diet.

What you eat today will dictate your physical shape in the long term. Start adding more fruit and vegetables to your grocery basket for a healthier, fitter you.

Get Up A Bit Earlier

Getting out of bed just fifteen minutes earlier than usual can make a HUGE difference.

Fifteen more minutes means fifteen more minutes to rustle yourself up a nutritious breakfast that packs a punch.

It means no more skipped breakfasts.

Fifteen more minutes means you can listen to your favourite music to get you in the mood for the day ahead. It means you don’t need to rush in and out of the shower, stubbing your toe on a door frame and burning your tongue on coffee as you whizz through your chores before getting on the train to work.

Fifteen more minutes means you can properly prepare for the rest of the day. It can make a big difference.
